 ইংরেজি বাক্যের কমন ভুল ও গ্রামাটিক্যাল রুল অনুযায়ী সংশোধন

Rule-1

Incorrect: He saw the boy play in the field.
Correct: He saw the boy playing in the field.

Rule: Simple sentence এ দুটি verb থাকলে দ্বিতীয় verb এর সাথে ing যুক্ত হয়।

Rule-2

Incorrect: The Scene of Kasmir is nice.
Correct: The scenery of Kasmir is nice.

Rule: একটি নির্দিষ্ট স্থান নির্দেশ করে Scene, কিন্তু একটি দেশের সামগ্রীক সৌন্দর্য নির্দেশ করতে scenery হবে।

 

Rule- 3

Incorrect: Tipu as well as his friends are going to shopping.
Correct: Tipu as well as his friends is going to shopping.

Rule: With, as well as, together with, দ্বারা বাক্যে কোন Noun বা Pronoun যুক্ত হলে দুটি subject এর মধ্যে প্রথম subject অনুযায়ী Auxiliary verb ব্যবহার হবে।

Rule- 4

Incorrect: l have saw him recently.
Correct: l have seen him recently.

Rule: Sentence এ yet, just, recently, already, lately ইত্যাদি থকলে present perfect tense হবে।

Rule- 5

Incorrect: You, he and I is going to the market.
Correct: You, he and I are going to the market.

Rule: দুইয়ের অধিক pronoun/subject যদি and দিয়ে যুক্ত হয় তবে plural verb হয়।

Incorrect: He has returned back to University
Correct: He has returned to University

Rule: returned এর অর্থ ফিরে আসা, back অর্থও ফিরে আসা সো, এখানে back লেখার প্রয়োজন নেই।

Rule-7 Tall & High

Incorrect:  Tomal is six feet high.
Correct: Tomal is six feet tall.

Rule: Tall সাধারণত ব্যক্তির জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়। High ব্যবহৃত হয় গাছ, বিল্ডিং, পিলার, পর্বত ইত্যাদি ক্ষেত্রে।
যেমন: The apartment is 100 feet high.

Rule- 8

Incorrect: “The hundreds” are a famous book.
Correct: “The hundreds” is a famous book.

Rule: বই/দেশের নাম দেখতে plural হলেও তাদের পরে singular verb বসে।

Rule- 9

Incorrect: They enjoy play cricket.
Correct: They enjoy playing cricket.

Rule: সুনির্দিষ্ট কিছু Verb এর পরে verb+ ing হবে, যেমন: Avoid, enjoy, keep, admit, mind, stop.

Incorrect: Divide the apple among the two boys.
Correct: Divide the apple between the two boys.

Rule: Preposition রুল অনুযায়ী দুয়ের মধ্যে বুঝাতে between এবং দুয়ের অধিক বুঝাতে among ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Rule-11 Discover এবং Invent

Incorrect:  America was invented by Columbus.
Correct: America was discovered by Columbus.

Incorrect: Edison discovered the gramophone.
Correct:  Edison invented the gramophone.

Rule:To discover হল অজানা কোন কিছুকে খুঁজে পাওয়া বা আবিস্কার করা, কিন্তু, invent অস্তিত্বহীন কোন কিছুকে তৈরি করা বা আবিষ্কার করা।

Rule-12

Incorrect: I was hearing his lecture.
Correct: I was listening to his lecture.

Incorrect: I was hearing her recitation the Holy Quran .
Correct: I was listening to her recitation the Holy Quran.

Rule: to hear হল- সাধারনভাবে কোন কিছু শ্রবণ/করা বুঝায় আর To listen মনোযোগ/দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করে কোন কিছু শোনা বুঝায় ।

Rule- 13

Incorrect: I preferring milk to tea/I understanding the lesson now.
Correct: I prefer milk to tea/I understand the lesson now.

Rule: গ্র্যামাটিক্যাল রুল অনুসারে যে verb গুলো কর্মনির্দেশক অবস্থা নির্দেশ করে, সেই verb গুলোর কোন continuous forms হয় না, যেমন: believe, understand, like, prefer, see ইত্যাদি।

Rule- 14

Incorrect: I have seen him last week.
Correct: I saw him last week.

Rule: বাক্যে অতীত সময় নির্দেশক যেমনঃ Yesterday, last week, last year ইত্যাদি থাকলে সর্বদা Past tense হবে।

Incorrect: It’s a secret between you and I.
Correct: It’s a secret between you and me.

Rule: Between হল একটি preposition এবং সব preposition ই নিজেদের পরে objective case গ্রহণ করে।

Rule-16
Incorrect: He and She is friends.
Correct: He and She are friends.

Rule: একাধিক “and” দিয়ে যুক্ত হলে plural verb হয়।

Incorrect: He can speaks English
Correct: He can speak English

Rule: Can, may, shall, will (Modal Auxiliaries) এর পরে subject নির্দেশনা হিসাবে third person হবে না। অর্থাৎ, এগুলোর পরে Verb এর সাথে S বা es যুক্ত হবে না। (infinitive ব্যবহৃত হবে)

Rule- 18

Incorrect: I’ve forgot to do my work
Correct: I’ve forgotten to do my work

Rule: Auxiliary verb have এর পরে verb এর past participle হবে।

Rule-19

Incorrect: Five thousand forty-five.

Correct: Five thousand and forty-five.

Rule: দুটি সংখ্যা hundred, thousand ইত্যাদি দ্বারা যুক্ত করতে conjunction হিসাবে and ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Rule-20

Incorrect: That girl has long hairs.
Correct:  That girl has long hair.

Rule: hair যদিও বহুবচন মনে হতে পারে কিন্তু কারো লম্বা চুল আছে এটা উক্ত ব্যক্তির singular person হিসাবে singular form বসবে, কিন্তু সুনির্দ্দিষ্ট একটি/দুটি চুলের ক্ষেত্রে plural form বসবে।
যেমন: I found three long hairs in my plate.

Rule- 21

Incorrect: I come here for learning English
Correct: I come here to learn English

Rule: উদ্দেশ্য বুঝাতে সাধারণত infinitive দ্বারা প্রকাশিত হয়, Gerund দিয়ে নয়।

Rule-22

Incorrect: 40 miles are a long way
Correct: 40 miles is a long way

Rule: একই দৈর্ঘ্য, পরিমাণ বা স্থান বুঝালে subject দেখতে plural হলেও verb singular হয়।

Rule-23

Incorrect: Milk are good for health.
Correct: Milk is good for health.

Rule: Uncountable noun (Oxygen, air, water, milk) ইত্যাদির ক্ষেত্রে singular verb হয়।

Rule-24

Incorrect: The more people will confess the truth.
Correct: Most people will confess the truth.

Rule: অধিকাংশ (majority) বুঝালে অবশ্যই most ব্যবহৃত হবে, the more ব্যবহার করা ভুল।

Rule- 25

Incorrect: British are fond of cricket.
Correct: The British are fond of cricket.

Rule: জাতিসমূহের নামের পূর্বে সর্বদা Definite article বসবে।

Rule- 26

Incorrect:  Any of these two shirts is nice.
Correct: Either of these two shirts is nice.

Rule: Either দুইয়ের মধ্যে এটি বা ওটি অর্থ প্রকাশ করে, কিন্তু, any তিন বা ততোধিক এর মধ্যে একটি অর্থ প্রকাশ করে।

Rule-27

Incorrect: He will arrive just now.
Correct: He will arrive just presently.

Rule: সাধারণতঃ নিকট ভবিষ্যতের ক্ষেত্রে presently, soon ইত্যাদি বসে। বর্তমান ও অতীত সময় প্রকাশের ক্ষেত্রে just now ব্যবহার হয়। যেমনঃ Nipa left just now (নিপা একটু আগে চলে গেছে)

Rule- 28

Incorrect: Only I and my uncle are present.
Correct: Only my uncle and I are present.

Rule: একই সাথে যখন নিজে ও অন্য কাওকে যুক্ত করে কথা বলা হয় তখন অন্য ব্যক্তিকে প্রথমে এবং নিজেকে পরে মেনশন করতে হবে।

Rule-29

Incorrect: My Teacher gave me some good advices.
Correct: My Teacher gave me some good advice.

Rule: যখন বাক্যে কেবলমাত্র একটি উপদেশ না বুঝিয়ে একাধিক উপদেশ বুঝাবে সেক্ষেত্রে advice হবে। যেমন, এখানে some good advice (কিছু ভাল উপদেশ)

Rule-30

Incorrect: Yesterday they had fishes for lunch.
Correct: Yesterday they had fish for lunch.

Rule: Fish খাদ্য হিসেবে বোঝালে সর্বদা singular হয়, কিন্তু সুনির্দিষ্ট সংখ্যার ক্ষেত্রে plural হবে। যেমনঃ I caught 3 big fishes.

Rule- 31

Incorrect: English isn’t easy to learned.
Correct: English isn’t easy to learn.

Rule: Easy, difficult, hard ইত্যাদি adjective গুলোর পরে সাধারণত verb এর base form বসে।

Rule-32

Incorrect: Hundred years make a century.
Correct: A hundred years make a century.

Rule: Hundred বা thousand এর পূর্বে indefinite article বসে।

Rule-33

Incorrect: I’ll call you when I shall come back.
Correct: I’ll call you when I come back.

Rule: Principal clause এর verb টি future tense এর হয়, তবে সময় প্রকাশক বিষয়ক clause টির verb টি present tense এ হবে।

Rule-34

Incorrect: They went our village in the forest.
Correct: They went our village through the forest.

Rule: কোন কিছুর মধ্যে দিয়ে যাওয়া বুঝাতে through বসে।

Rule-35

Incorrect: The Japaness have strange habits.
Correct: The Japaness have strange customs.

Rule: ব্যক্তির অভ্যাস/আচরণ বুঝাতে habits এবং কোন দেশ, জাতির অভ্যাস/আচরণ বুঝাতে customs ব্যবহার হয়।

Rule-36

Incorrect: Have a look to it!
Correct: Have a look at it!

Rule: Appropriate Preposition অনুসারে Look at সঠিক, to এর ব্যবহার সঠিক নয়। এরুপ আরো উদাহরণঃ Look at the moon.

Rule-37

Incorrect: We had a nice play of cricket.
Correct: We had a nice game of cricket.

Rule: সাধারণতঃ খেলাধুলার ক্ষেত্রে game শব্দটি ব্যবহার করা উচিৎ। Play হাস্যকৌতুক অর্থে বোঝানো হয়ে থাকে।

Rule-38

Incorrect: Tomal has a new dress.
Correct: Tomal has a new suit.

Rule: পুরুষের ক্ষেত্রে suit ও মহিলাদের ক্ষেত্রে dress ব্যবহার করা হয়।

Rule-39

Incorrect: A number of students is absent today.
Correct: A number of Students are absent today.

Rule: number এর পূর্বে the থাকলে singular এবং number এর পূর্বে a থাকলে Auxiliary Verb হবে plural ।

Rule-40

Incorrect: Swim is good exercise.
Correct: Swimming is good exercise.

Rule: সাধারণত Verb subject হতে পারে না। একে subject বানাতে হলে ing যুক্ত করতে হয়, এটা Gerund এর একটা রুল।

Rule-41

Incorrect: Bread and butter are my favorite breakfast.
Correct: Bread and butter is my favorite breakfast.

Rule: And দ্বারা যুক্ত হয়েও যদি Noun গুলি একটিমাত্র ভাব প্রকাশ করে তবে Auxiliary Verb Singular হয়।

Rule-42

Incorrect: Something were under the table.
Correct: Something was under the table.

Rule: some, Each, any, no এসব শব্দের পরে singular noun থাকলে Auxiliary Verb singular হবে।

Rule-43

Incorrect: Each child had an ice-cream.
Correct: Every child had an ice-cream.

Rule: দুই বা ততোধিক ব্যক্তির ক্ষেত্রে each এবং every দুইয়ের অধিক তথা অনেক ব্যক্তিকে নির্দেশ করে।

Rule-44

Incorrect: Diamond is a precious metal
Correct: The diamond is a precious metal

Rule: Metal noun যদি সাধারণ ধারণায় ব্যবহৃত হয়, তবে এরা কোন article ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Rule-45

Incorrect: We’ll start after the lunch.
Correct: We’ll start after lunch.

Rule: ভোজের নামের (breakfast, lunch, dinner বা supper) পূর্বে definite article ব্যবহৃত হওয়া উচিৎ নয়।

Rule-46

Incorrect: The diarrhoea is a dreadful disease.
Correct: Diarrhoea is a dreadful disease.

Rule: সাধারণত রোগ ব্যাধির নামের পূর্বে definite article ব্যবহৃত হয় না।

Rule-47

Incorrect: My brother is taller than me.
Correct: My brother is taller than I (am).

Rule: Than হলো conjunction এবং pronoun এর পরের verb টি সাধারণত উহ্য থাকে।

Rule-48 Convince

Incorrect: I am now persuaded of his honesty.
Correct: I am now convinced of his honesty.

Rule: To convince হল কাউকে বিশ্বাস করা বোঝানো। পক্ষান্তরে To persuade অর্থ হল কাউকে কিছু করতে রাজি করানো বা বুঝানো।

Rule-49  Refuse

Incorrect: Ruma denied to take the money.
Correct: Ruma refused to take the money.

Rule: Refuse অর্থ অনুরোধকৃত কোন কিছু করতে বা নিতে সম্মত হওয়া। to deny অর্থ হল নেতিবাচক উত্তরে দেয়া সত্য বলে স্বীকার না করা।

Rule-50

Incorrect: My brother is good in football.
Correct: My brother is good at football.

Rule: Appropriate Preposition অনুসারে Good at অর্থ -ভালো বা দক্ষ, in ব্যবহার ভুল।

Rule-51

Incorrect: He has only two, three friends.

Correct: He has only two or three friends.

Rule: বাক্যে number থাকলে তা সংযুক্ত করতে conjunction হিসাবে or বসবে।

Rule-52

Incorrect: I’ve a sister which is at College.
Correct: I’ve a sister who is at college.

Rule: ব্যক্তির ক্ষেত্রে who, whose, whom এবং প্রাণীর ক্ষেত্রে which হল সঠিক pronoun.

Rule-53

Incorrect: I’m working here for three years.
Correct: I have been working here for three years.

Rule: যদি কোন কাজ অতীতে শুরু হয়ে বর্তমানেও চলছে এমন অর্থ প্রকাশ করে তাহলে সর্বদা present perfect continuous tense ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Rule-54

Incorrect: Can you give me any informations?
Correct: Can you give me any information?

Rule: যখন শুধুমাত্র নিদ্দিষ্ট একটি তথ্য প্রকাশ পায় তখন information ব্যবহৃত হবে। informations নয়।

Rule-55

Incorrect: I’m working as a teacher.
Correct: I work as a teacher.

Rule: profession/occupation পেশাগত অবস্থা দীর্ঘস্থায়ী অবস্থা প্রকাশ পায় সেক্ষেত্রে simple present tense ব্যবহৃত হবে।

Rule-56

Incorrect: I exchanged my red shirt by the blue panjabi.
Correct: I exchanged my red shirt for the blue panjabi.

Rule: Exchange for কথাটির অর্থ হলো বিনিময় করা বা বদল করা। exchange এর পরে preposition হিসেবে for শব্দটি বসবে।

Rule-57

Incorrect: Shumi says she won’t cook for nobody.
Correct: Shumi says she won’t cook for anybody.

Rule: একটি ইংরেজী বাক্যে একাধিক “double negative” ব্যবহৃত হতে পারেনা।

Rule-58

Incorrect: I went there one time or two times.
Correct: I went there once or twice.

Rule: one time এর পরিবর্তে once এবং two time এর পরিবর্তে twice ব্যবহার করা সমীচীন।

Rule-59

Incorrect: He is glad that the news are good.
Correct: He is glad that the news is good.

Rule: News যদিও মনে হতে পারে plural form কিন্তু এটা সর্বদা singular form  হিসাবে বিবেচিত হয়। তাই news এর পর auxiliary verb হিসেবে is ব্যবহৃত হবে।

Rule-60

Incorrect: Nothing is good; all are bad.
Correct: Nothing is good; all is bad.

Rule: All যদিও মনে হতে পারে plural form কিন্তু এটা সর্বদা singular form হিসাবে বিবেচিত হয়। তাই এখানেও সাহায্যকারী verb হিসেবে is বসবে।

Rule-61

Incorrect: I’m not interested for this job.
Correct: I’m not interested in this job.

Rule: Appropriate Preposition হিসাবে interested in শব্দটি একত্রে “আগ্রহী “অর্থ প্রকাশ করে, তাই এখানে বাক্যের ভাবার্থ অনুযায়ী for এর পরিবর্তে in ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Rule-62

Incorrect: The bust will leave the station at five and a half.
Correct: The bus will leave the station at half past five.

Rule: সময় নির্দেশ করার ক্ষেত্রে half past one, half past two এভাবে ব্যবহার করা উচিত।

Rule-63

Incorrect: At the end shafik reached the village.
Correct: In the end Shafik reached the village.

Rule: at the end দূরের কোন অংশ এমন অর্থ প্রকাশ করে। in the end সর্বশেষ পর্যায় বা শেষে, এরকম অর্থ প্রকাশ করে। আর তাই এখানে in the end ব্যবহার করাই সঠিক।

Rule-64

Incorrect: It depends from her.
Correct: It depends on her.

Rule: Depend এর পর রুল অনুসারে on ব্যবহারই সঠিক।

Rule-65

Incorrect: Many people have died from Cancer.
Correct: Many people have died of Cancer.

Rule: Prepostion রুল অনুসারে Die এর পরে সর্বদা of বসবে।

Rule-66

Incorrect: My choice is different than yours.
Correct: My choice is different from yours.

Rule: Different এর পরে from হবে, than নয়।

Rule-67

Incorrect: I asked Shumon what he is doing.

Correct: I asked Shumon what he was doing.

Rule: clause এর রুল অনুসারে principal clause এর verb যখন past tense হয়, তখন subordinate clause টিতে verb এর past tense ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Rule-68

Incorrect: Shimul thought he can buy the car.

Correct: Shimul thought he could buy the car.

Rule: যখন principal clause টির verb টি past tense এ হয়, তখন can এর পরিবর্তে could ব্যবহৃত হবে।

Rule-69

Incorrect: The window is closed, please open her.

Correct: The window is closed, please open it.

Rule: জড়বস্তু গুলো neuter gender এবং pronoun হিসেবে singular number এ it বসাতে হবে।

Rule-70

Incorrect: What’s the last news from the Palace?
Correct: What’s the latest news from the BBC?

Rule: Latest অর্থ হল হালনাগাদ। Last হল শেষেরটি।

Rule-71

Incorrect: He is a beautiful young man.
Correct: He is a handsome young man.

Rule: সাধারণত পুরুষের ক্ষেত্রে handsome এবং একজন মহিলার ক্ষেত্রে beautiful, lovely, বা pretty ব্যবহার হয়।

Rule-72

Incorrect:  He was in the centre of the street.
Correct: He was in the middle of the street.

Rule:  Centre হল একটি নির্দিষ্ট অবস্থান বিন্দু; পক্ষান্তরে middle হল (centre) কেন্দ্রের চারপাশের বা নিকটবর্তী অনির্দিষ্ট স্থান।

Rule-73

Incorrect: I hope Rina will succeed at her work.
Correct: I hope Rina will succeed in her work.

Rule: succeed in হল appropriate preposition যার অর্থ হলো “কৃতকার্য হওয়া”, অতএব এখানে succeed এর পর preposition হিসেবে in ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।

Rule-74

Incorrect: why you were absent last Monday?
Correct: Why were you absent last Monday?

Rule: interrogative প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্যের ক্ষেত্রে (what, when, why) subject verb এর পরে বসে।

Rule-75

Incorrect: Are you satisfied from your salary?
Correct: Are you satisfied with your salary?

Rule: Happy, satisfied ইত্যাদির পরে preposition হিসেবে with বসে।

Rule-76

Incorrect: Your shirt is similar with mine.
Correct: Your shirt is similar to mine.

Rule: similar to অর্থ হচ্ছে অনুরুপ, এখানে with ব্যবহার সঠিক নয়।

Rule-77

Incorrect: Please remember me to give your book back.
Correct: Please remind me to give your book back.

Rule: to remember মানে হলো “মনে রাখা ” আর to remind অর্থ হলো কাউকে কিছু মনে করিয়ে দেয়া। তাই এক্ষেত্রে remember এর পরিবর্তে remind ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Rule-78

Incorrect: It was him.
Correct: It was he.

Rule: to be verb এর পরে বসা pronoun টি objective case এ নয়, বড়ং nominative case এ হবে।

Rule-79

Incorrect: My brother failed from economics last year.
Correct: My brother failed in economics last year.

Rule: অকৃতকার্য হওয়া বুঝানোর জন্য fail in ব্যবহার হবে, from নয়।

Rule-80

Incorrect: The tank was full with/from oil.
Correct: The tank was full of oil.

Rule: Preposition রুল অনুসারে Full of (পূর্ণ) সঠিক, from/with/at সঠিক নয়।

Rule-81

Incorrect: I was glad from/with receiving your letter.
Correct: I was glad of/about receiving your letter.

Rule: Preposition রুল অনুসারে Glad (খুশি) এর সাথে of এর ব্যবহার সঠিক, এখানে from/with ব্যবহার ভুল।

Rule-82

Incorrect: My father always insisted to his opinion.
Correct: My father always insisted on his opinion.

Rule: Appropriate Preposition অনুসারে insist on সঠিক।

Rule-83

Incorrect: Shanto is very jealous from Rimon.
Correct: Shanto is very jealous of Rimon.

Rule: Appropriate Preposition রুল অনুসারে Jealous এর পরে of সঠিক, from নয়।

Rule-84

Incorrect: We are leaving to Dhaka.
Correct: We are leaving for Dhaka.

Rule: leaving for a place (কোন স্থানের উদ্দেশ্যে যাত্রা করা), to a place নয়।

Rule-85

Incorrect: I live from my own money.
Correct: I live on my own money.

Rule: Appropriate Preposition রুল অনুসারে live on (বেঁচে থাকা) সঠিক, from নয়।

Rule-86

Incorrect: The shop is opposite from the building.
Correct: The shop is opposite to the building.

Rule: opposite to (বিপরীত, উল্টোদিকে), from নয়।

Rule-87

Incorrect: Messi plays with Argentina.
Correct: Messi plays for Argentina.

Rule: play for a team (কোন দলের হয়ে খেলা), with নয়।

Rule-88

Incorrect: My fitness is because of regular exercise.
Correct: My fitness is due to regular exercise.

Incorrect: He was lost due to the storm.
Correct: He was lost because of the storm.

Rule: Due to বিশেষায়িত করে Verb কে। because of বিশেষায়িত করে Noun/pronoun কে।

Rule-89

Incorrect: I don’t like pizza and Burger, I want rice.
Correct: I don’t like pizza or burger, I want rice.

Rule: বাক্যে একটি negative word ব্যবহার হলে and এর পরিবর্তে or ব্যবহার হবে।

Rule- 90

Incorrect: Would you mind to open the window?
Correct: Would you mind to opening the window?

Rule: Do you mind/Would you mind এর পরে সর্বদা verb (ing) হবে।

Rule- 91

Incorrect: London is the large city in England.
Correct: London is the largest city in England.

Rule: যখন দুইয়ের অধিক দেশ বা বস্তুর মাঝে তুলনা করা বুঝাবে তখন superlative degree ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Rule- 92

Incorrect: I must to see your office.
Correct: I must see your office.

Rule: Modal Auxiliary হিসাবে must এর পরে to বসতে পারে না।

Rule- 93

Incorrect: I think his father is died.
Correct: I think his father is dead.

Rule: died হল die এর past form এখানে adjective হিসাবে dead ব্যবহার হয়েছে।

Incorrect: In the evening, I stay home.
Correct: In the evening, I stay at home.

Rule: বাড়িতে অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে phrase হিসাবে at home ব্যবহৃত হবে।
